Camp at Wellington
For the past week we have been away on camp at Wellington. We stayed at the top 10 holiday park, there were a lot of activities to do there like the jumping pillow, trampoline and even a playground. The only down part about where we were staying is that the rooms were really crowded, but I'm glad that I was in a room with all my best friends.
Wellington zoo had a lot of animals that I had never seen before in real life like the sun bear, he was really cool because he had a black body with a white nose. There were also Chimpanzees they were funny, while we were there they had a talk about them and we got to watch them get feed. I learnt that the baby have white fur on there buts and if you make a baby cry the rest of the Chimpanzees will hate you. While you are a baby you can get away with anything you want sometimes the baby's at night will jump up onto the other chimpanzees and give them a big fright.
Snorkeling was my favorite. While we were snorkeling I learnt that there were over 200 different types of seaweed just in that little place, another fact that I learnt is that there are such things as sponge anemones the can be a wide range of colors, but they are mostly pink and orange. We also saw lots of starfish they were all dark blue the biggest one that we saw was as big as a palm on your hand. we also say lots of tiny and big fish. Also there was an anemone that looked like an inner eye it was creepy.
When we went to the space place we learnt a lot about the planets of the solar system and we got to have a go at a quiz. It was hard at first but then we got the hang of it and we knew were the planets were and every time we got a question right they would give us a stamp. We also learnt that the MΔori people used the different types of moons to tell what type of day and month it was.We also learnt about the Milky way and how it got its name. It got its name by the Greek gods they thought that it looked like t spilt milk it the sky, we are placed on the Milky way it the fifth set of rings.
Media Lab/On TV was so much fun, for Media Lab we got to do virtual reality. It was hard at first but then as we did each step it made more sense. First we learnt how to make mountains that were pointy and that were smooth, then we moved onto making everything in color. Once we got the hang of that we got to make accessories like houses, trees, street lamps and so much more. Our last step in our virtual world we got to make animals that moved. Then we used our phones that we got and downloaded our virtual world onto our phones and looked through a cardboard screen and got to see our worlds in three d.When we went to On TV, we made a news report about Once Upon A Crime. There were a lot of jobs that you could do and my job was camera one, it was so much fun the reporters Ethan, Molly, Jude and Josh did such a great job of presenting. At the end of our video we got to watch both of them and then we decided that we would put the first one one on you tube instead of the second one.
